Netizens Wonder If EDAM Changed Its Location Without Communicating With IU After This Happened
Allegations have been raised that singer IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, relocated its office without communicating with IU.
On the 21st of October, the agency announced through IU’s official fan cafe, “Due to the company’s relocation, the address has been changed, and we are providing updated information on how to send support. Please note that mail can no longer be received at the previous address.”
The agency provided the updated address, but fans raised concerns about how this information was handled. Prior to the announcement, fan letters sent to the previous address were being returned. Fans then directly asked IU on the fan cafe whether the agency had moved, and IU reportedly responded, “Did they do it without telling me? As far as I know, they didn’t.”
From this, it seems the company relocated the address early on, but IU was unaware of the move until fans informed her.
The Korean media outlet Herald POP attempted to reach EDAM Entertainment for comment but was unable to get a response.
EDAM currently only has two artists under its management: IU and Lee Jung Hoon. This has further fueled fans’ long-standing anger over the agency’s poor communication. Previously, EDAM faced controversy for classifying a fan who purchased IU concert tickets with a friend’s help as engaging in ticket fraud, demanding excessive proof of purchase. Although the agency later promised to reform its system, fans have complained that the artist continues to bear the brunt of all the criticism due to these operational issues.
What do you think happened in this case?
