DKZ’s Kyoungyoon, who sparked controversy as a follower of the pseudo-religious JMS cult (Christian Gospel Mission), is suspending his activities.

On April 19th, Dongyo Entertainment announced on the fancafe, “We will inform you about the Cultwo Show scheduled for the 29th and the future activities of Kyungyoon.”

The agency said, “Recently, we were informed that there had been some repeated complaints (Boseong-gun office and Kookmin Shinmungo High School) requesting cancellation of the artist’s appearance from officials at the event. 5 DKZ members (Sehyeon, Mingyu, Jaechan, Jonghyung, and Kiseok) will participate in this event. We apologize to all those who have experienced inconveniences and sudden changes in appearances.”

The news of Kyoungyoon’s activity suspension was also reported. The agency said,  “Kyoungyoon feels a heavy responsibility for his work and is conducting counseling and treatment at the same time, and will focus on treatment and stability for the time being after receiving opinions from his doctor.”

Previously, after the release of Netflix’s “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal,” it was revealed that he and his family were JMS believers

On the 14th of last month, Kyoungyoon announced on DKZ’s official fan cafe, “I am truly sorry for the fans who must have been surprised and disappointed,” adding, “The words mentioned in the past without much concern have caused a bigger misunderstanding, and I am reflecting and blaming myself to the extent that I want to turn back all that time,” he said, declaring his departure from JMS.

In addition, Kyoungyoon added, “Until I checked the reports and broadcast content of many people about a specific group, I knew it as a normal church that my parents attend, and I have never encountered or recognized the content related to the broadcast.”
