BTS Writes History, Becomes The First Kpop Group To Enter Billboard 200 Chart At No. 1

The mega Kpop group BTS is a force to be taken seriously!

On May 27, Billboard announced that that BTS’s latest album “Love Yourself: Tear” has entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1 for the week ending in June 2.

BTS became the first Kpop artist to ever top the Billboard 200 chart, they broke their own previous record set by “Love Yourself: Her” having reached number 7 last year.

Billboard also revealed that “Love Yourself: Tear” is “the first primarily foreign language No. 1 album in over 12 years” on the chart, since it’s performed mostly in Korean.

Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US taking into consideration traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

The album which was released back on May 18 sold 135,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 100,000 were in traditional album sales.

Anticipation for how well will BTS do on the other Billboard charts is rising. On May 30, the Hot 100 and Billboard’s top songs chart will be released!
