Police Says BTS’s Suga’s Blood Alcohol Level Was 0.227%, Making It The Highest Among All Kpop Idols DUIs To Date
More news about Suga’s DUI with the electric scooter has been reported by various Korean media outlets!
According to police and other sources on the 11th of August, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul plans to summon Suga to investigate the circumstances of his drinking, the amount of alcohol he consumed, and other related details.
On the night of the 6th of August, Suga fell while riding an electric scooter near his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu. At the time, police officers patrolling the area conducted a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.227%, well above the license revocation standard of 0.08%.
Since his BAC [blood alcohol concentration] was 0.227%, it makes him the Kpop idol with the highest BAC among kpop idols who had DUIs in the past.
Media outlets report that police did not initially recognize Suga as a member of BTS and were unable to conduct a proper investigation due to his intoxicated state, only performing the breathalyzer test before sending him home.
The electric scooter Suga was riding was also not confiscated.
Given these circumstances, the police believe that Suga should be summoned again for additional questioning, including the drafting of a formal statement.
However, the date of his appearance has not been set yet, as it needs to be coordinated between both parties. It is also understood that Suga has not yet received a request to appear from the police.
The police have initiated the administrative process for the revocation of Suga’s driver’s license.
According to the Road Traffic Act, a person whose driver’s license has been revoked must surrender their license to the chief of the provincial police department within seven days of the date the revocation reason occurred.
If the person whose license has been revoked submits their license, they may apply for and receive a temporary driving certificate from the provincial police chief. The temporary driving certificate is valid for up to 40 days.
Usually, the revocation of the license takes effect after the expiration of the temporary driving certificate’s validity, so it is expected that Suga’s license revocation will take about 40 days.
