Billboard has confirmed, the group has taken over the number one spot on Billboard 200 Chart for the week ending in September 8 with their most recent album “Love Yourself: Answer.”
Billboard 200 Chart ranks the most popular albums in the united states, BTS had previously achieved the number one spot with their previous album “Love Yourself: Tear.”
This makes BTS the first Korean act to have topped the Billboard 200 Chart twice in the same year.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
The album sold a total of 185,000 equivalent album units in the week ending August 30.
This makes “Love Yourself: Answer” the Third-Largest Week in sales of 2018 for a Pop Album following Justin Timberlake’s “Man of the Woods” (293,000 units) and Ariana Grande’s “Sweetener (231,000 units).
BTS also became the first pop act since 2014 with two no. 1 albums in less than a year; this feat was last achieved by One Direction back in December 2014.
The boys have departed earlier today to Los Angeles where they are set to entertain fans for four nights at sold-out shows at the Staples Center.
This isn’t it, BTS fans are also aiming to get “IDOL” on the Hot 100, Billboard’s top songs chart, the list will be out on September 5th, the anticipation is high and many are wondering whether BTS will be able to snag a spot on the top 10.
Stay tuned!
