The first official solo album ‘Indigo’ by RM, a member of the global super group BTS, entered the top 3 of the US Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’. This is the highest position for a Korean solo singer on the chart.

According to Billboard on December 26th, RM’s ‘Indigo’, which was released on the global music platform on December 2nd, ranked at number 3 on the Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ on December 31st.

‘Indigo’ debuted at number 15 on the ‘Billboard 200’ on December 17th, but was out of the chart on the 24th. However, after releasing a physical CD on the 16th, it recorded album sales equivalent to 83,000 copies, occupying this ranking.

This is the second time that RM, who reached the top of the ‘Billboard 200’ six times as a BTS member, entered the ‘Billboard 200’ as a solo artist. ‘Mono.’, released in October 2018, ranked 26th on the ‘Billboard 200’. In particular, RM is the first BTS member to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200 as a solo artist. As a team, BTS has placed seven albums in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Other BTS members also entered the chart as soloists. The mixtape ‘D-2’, released by SUGA under the stage name Agust D, ranked 11th, and J-Hope’s first full-length solo album ‘Jack in the Box’ and mixtape ‘Hope World’ ranked 17th and 38th respectively.

RM’s ‘Indigo’ performance on “Billboard 200” is also the best for any Korean solo artist on the chart. Previously, “TWICE” member Nayeon ranked 7th on the chart with her first solo album “IM NAYEON” in July.
