On December 11, Jin took to Weverse to update fans of a selfie of himself. His head was shaved signaling his pending military enlistment. Jin captioned with, “Its cuter than I thought.”
After Jin shared the selfie, it went viral on social media with people reposting it and wishing him a safe service. One of the most used hashtags #WeLoveJin is currently among the top trending hashtags on Twitter worldwide.
It was also revealed that authorities will increase security measures on the day of his enlistment to avoid crowding issues.
Previously, Big Hit Music issued a statement about his enlistment, writing, “The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only. In order to prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, we ask fans to please refrain from visiting the site. Instead, we ask you to keep your heartwarming words of support and farewell in your hearts.”
Jin, who was born in 1992, is 30 years old and his enlistment had been postponed until the end of this year after being recommended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to postpone his enlistment under the revised Military Service Act in 2020. He has since submitted “cancellation of the postponement of enlistment.” It was also reported that he’s set to enlist on December 13, but the agency declined to comment on whether this is true or not.
