BTS Jin and Big Hit have been very quiet when asked about military service; they refrained from commenting despite efforts done by politicians to change military service laws.
The proposed Act by politician Kim Joong Ro would grant certain idols military exemption. BTS would’ve gotten exempt because of their immense contribution to South Korea. However, it wasn’t passed which meant that Jin, born in 1992, must enlist before 2020 ends like all other able Korean men born in 1992.
On February 24, BTS held a Global Press Conference for the release of their new album “Map of the Soul: 7.” The press conference was originally scheduled to be held in the attendance of press, however, due to the spread of the coronavirus, the press conference was replaced with a live stream instead. BTS answered questions written by the press live.
The boys answered all sorts of questions, one of them was directed at Jin, and it was about his impending military service, Jin answered,
“Nothing has been decided yet and it’s a sensitive topic.
And if I am called, I am ready to serve at any time. When things are decided, I will try to do the best I can.”
Fans are going to be very upset when Jin joins the military but are very proud of him for answering the question the way he did.
