It’s been confirmed that the report was true; BLACKPINK Lisa’s former manager stole 1 billion won ($817,661 USD) from her.

The news was reported by Korean outlet Market News exclusively at first. The report claimed that Manager ‘A,’ who has been with Lisa since her debut in 2016 with BLACKPINK and who she trusted, has swindled her for a large sum of money.

‘A’ was also trusted within the label itself, other members, and staff in the company as well. People were reportedly shocked that he had done something like this.

According to the report, ‘A’ took advantage of Lisa’s trust in him and said he would help her find some real estate to invest in and took her money only to waste it on gambling.

Market News stated it would not be easy for Lisa to let the public know about this, as her group image could be affected by this. One official even stated that since she’s a foreigner who came to South Korea when she was so young, she was very vulnerable to such tactics.

Later, the report was confirmed by YG Entertainment through an official statement. The agency confirmed that after an internal investigation they found out that Lisa was the victim of fraud by ‘A.’

YG added,

“Lisa wishes for an amicable settlement since he was a former manager she trusted. A has agreed to reimburse some of the money he stole and the rest will paid back through a repayment plan, he has left the company.

We apologize for causing concern to the fans who love Lisa.

We feel embarrassed by A’s behavior for taking advantage of his trust with the artist and we feel responsible for the management of our staff. We’re working harder on measures to prevent such an unfortunate incident from happening again.”
