BLACKPINK sets the record for fastest and first female act to Surpass 2 million pre-orders in K-pop history with new album “Pink Venom.”
On August 25, YG Entertainment said, “Pre-orders for BLACKPINK’s second full-length album “Born Pink” have surpassed 2 million copies. It is the best K-pop female artist record ever. As there are about three weeks left until the album release date, September 16, it is worth looking forward to the sales record of 3 million copies along with the double million seller.”
BLACKPINK is showcasing its presence in the pop market with its pre-released song “Pink Venom.” “Pink Venom” became the first Korean artist to top the Spotify Top Song Global Chart for three consecutive days.
The music video for “Pink Venom” also broke the world record for female artists in the category with about 90.4 million views in the 24 hours of release. Since then, the music video has surpassed 100 million views in 29 hours and 35 minutes, breaking the record for the shortest K-pop girl group.
YG side said, “We finished filming the music video for the title song smoothly on August 24. All the songs in the album will write a new history of BLACKPINK, but especially the title song is the best.”
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will leave the country on August 28 for the “MTV VMAs” stage and promotion schedule for its second full-length album to be held at the Prudential Center in the U.S.
