B.A.P Himchan is said to be recovering after allegedly having attempted suicide.
On June 14, Korean media outlet Star News reported the idol had attempted to take his own life at his private residence on the evening of June 13.
Prior to his attempt, Himchan had posted a lengthy apology letter reflecting on his past wrongdoings in regards to his sexual assault charges and DUI.
According to officials, Himchan has made an extreme choice but is now in a stable condition recovering at home, the bigger accident was prevented thanks to acquaintances who called his mother worried about his safety. They conveyed his statement that he apologizes for failing to meet fans’ expectations as said in his apology post.
This comes after Himchan was sentenced to 10 months in prison in February of 2021 after being charged and convicted with committing an indecent act by compulsion against a woman in her twenties. He was ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program. In March 2021, he filed for an appeal.
He wrote in his apology,
“I know it’s overdue, but I wanted to apologize, so I am writing about this now.
I would like to apologize to those who have believed and waited for me for all my actions so far. I am so sorry and sorry again.
I hope everyone is happy without any incidents.
Goodbye.Thank you for everything.”
In related news, Himchan was booked for violation of traffic laws in October 2020, with an alcohol level high enough to have his driver’s license suspended.
