ATEEZ’s San Personally Addresses Racial Discrimination Rumors After Attending Luxury Fashion Show
ATEEZ‘s San recently addressed allegations of racial discrimination that arose from his attendance at a luxury fashion show.
On the morning of the 8th of July, San held a live broadcast on his SNS and shared behind-the-scenes footage of the ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ fashion show held in Milan, Italy, while interacting with fans.
He first expressed his thoughts, saying, “I recently attended a fashion show and had a great time. Everyone there treated me so well, and it was fun.”
He also mentioned an interesting episode, saying, “Dolce Grandfather (Domenico Dolce) told me over dinner that ‘Italy loves you.’ It felt like a coincidence with our grandfather.”
San also addressed the allegations of racial discrimination. He clarified any misunderstandings, stating, “I’m saddened by the constant misunderstandings. There was absolutely nothing like that. I brought unforgettable memories, and I don’t want any misunderstandings. Misunderstandings are prohibited.”
Previously, San attended the Dolce & Gabbana show held in Nola, Sardinia on the 2nd, but various online communities raised allegations of racial discrimination afterwards.
First, there were criticisms that San wore a confusing outfit alone and that only East Asians were provided with genderless looks. Also, photos were revealed showing him sitting among people without a seat cushion.
Regarding the outfits, San stated, “Among the 10 outfits provided by the brand, I liked this one the most. It was an opportunity to show various appearances. When considering the show’s identity, I wanted to challenge myself.”
He also explained the seat cushion suspicion, saying, “I sat like that. The person next to me had a larger build, and I also have a larger build. I’m sorry for squeezing into a small space, so I slightly leaned forward.”
Lastly, he said, “I’m a Korean and a member of ATEEZ, and I received so much love and came back thinking, ‘I’m someone who receives this much love.'” He also emphasized, “It’s really nothing. I had so much fun. If there are people around me who have misunderstandings, please explain it to them. I ask for your help.”
