Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds
“Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds” is one of the biggest Korean movies of all time, as of this writing, it is the 3rd highest grossing Korean movie ever. Won Bin famously rejected the leading role of Gang Rim in the drama because he felt the character wasn’t a good fit for him. Gang Rim was eventually played by Ha Jung Woo.
Descendants of the Sun
If you talk about the biggest Korean dramas of all time, “Descendants of the Sun” is one that comes to mind quite often. Originally, he was offered the leading role of Yoo Shi Jin. Won Bin rejected the role because he didn’t want to shave his head, film overseas, or pre-record the drama completely.
“Descendants of the Sun” was one of the first-ever kdramas to try out filming the entire production prior to its release.
Train to Busan
“Train to Busan” is one of the biggest and most well-known Korean movies of all time. Won Bin was offered the leading role which ultimately went to Gong Yoo. He rejected it because he felt the character didn’t stand out enough within the plot despite being the main character.
While the reasons for the rest might be unknown but he’s also rejected offers to star in “The Battleship Island”, “The King,” “That Winter the Wind Blows” and most recently the newest kdrama “Bulgasal” which stars Lee Jin Wook, Nara, Lee Joon and more.
