To many kdrama fans “Boys Over Flowers” is the kdrama that started their obsession and the drama that helped spread the hallyu wave. The “Boys Over Flowers” ensemble remains one of the best to this date.
“Boys Over Flowers” is still hailed as one of the most popular kdramas ever made and “Boys Over Flowers” cast popularity skyrocketed after the drama aired. Some of them have become even bigger stars leading successful careers.

Lee Min Ho
Probably the name that rings the most when you bring up the series name is the actor behind Go Jun Pyo, the hot rich chaebol who treats the lead like trash but ends up falling so deeply in love that it changes him.
The actor went on to lead many famous works throughout the years, notably “City Hunter” “The Heirs” And “Legend Of The Blue Sea,” in all of his productions, he shared the screen with other popular hallyu actresses.
He is currently serving the military; he started on May 12, 2017 at Suseo Social Welfare Centre in Gangnam District Office as a public service officer.
The actor wasn’t able to serve like other regular soldiers due to a car accident that took place in August 2006 with fellow actor Jung Il-woo, which caused him to be bedridden for months as he had suffered serious leg injuries.
To add to that, he suffered another car accident in 2011 while filming City Hunter.
Not too long ago and on March 15, 2018 he entered his military training at the Korea Army Training Centre in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province.
He returned to his public service duty after four weeks of basic military training.
The actor was involved with two very famous Korean actresses since “Boys Over Flowers,” he publicly dated Park Min Young for a while after developing feelings for her while filming “City Hunter” and he also dated idol-actress Suzy.
While he was serving the military back in November 2017, he announced his breakup from Suzy, they had dated for two years.
Suzy has since then moved on to date another popular actor, Lee Dong Wook.
Lee Min Ho will be discharged from the military in May 2019.
Ku Hye Sun
Ku Hye Sun charmed both national and international fans with her portrayal of Geum Jan Di who is still considered one of the most beloved kdrama characters of all time.
Ku Hye Sun is one of the many “Boys Over Flowers” cast members who tied the knot since the drama aired back in 2009.
She went on to lead a couple of projects that did well since “Boys Over Flowers,” she is also known for “Take Care of Us, Captain” which aired in 2012, “Angel Eyes” which aired in 2014 and “Blood” which aired in 2015 and is the drama where she met her husband Ahn Jae Hyun.
In March 2016, the actress shared the happy news with her fans, she revealed she was dating actor Ahn Jae Hyun. The couple officially registered their marriage at the Gangnam district office on May 20, 2016, and married on May 21, 2016.
They’re considered one of the most beloved and charitable Korean celebrity couples, they have even decided to give away their wedding money instead of holding a ceremony.
They donated the money to the pediatric ward of Severance Hospital. Since 2009, Ku Hye Sun has been active as a singer and a director as well.
In mid-2017, the actress was diagnosed with a severe, allergic digestive dysfunction. She ended up leaving the MBC drama “You’re Too Much,” which now holds the record for the highest rated JTBC drama.
The actress left the drama because the disease she was diagnosed with requires absolute stability and long-term treatment. She took some time off from the entertainment industry to focus on her health.
Not too long ago and back in December 2017, the actress announced that she’d be leaving YG Entertainment, the agency she has been a part of for so long.
It has been a while since fans saw their favorite unnie in a drama; she is yet to decide on her comeback drama following her one-year hiatus.
Kim Hyun Joong
Kim Hyun Joong is probably the most controversial actor of this list.
Since “Boys Over Flowers,” the actor went on to lead a successful singing and acting career, he went solo and was even awarded a MAMA Award back in 2011, a lot of his albums were instant hits and sold a lot of copies.
He also starred in the popular kdrama “Playful Kiss” where he played the obnoxious Baek Seung Jo who falls head over heels for Oh Ha Ni.
In 2014, he proved his worth as an actor with his performance in “Inspiring Generation” which earned him the respect of critics and fans alike. He managed to shed his flower boy image for good with his excellent acting chops.
Despite 2014 initially turning out to be his year, in August of that year his world crumbled when his ex-girlfriend claimed that he beat her and she had been carrying his baby.
The long legal battle lasted for almost 4 years, thebattle and the he-said-she-said drama went on for so long as Kim Hyun Joong fought for his innocence.
While battling legally he served the military and was discharged in February 2017.
In March 2017, Kim Hyun Joong was involved in a DUI, his agency alleged that he was driving the car away from a parking spot because he was told so and he hasn’t even driven for 1 km before police saw him and asked him to submit an alcohol test.
He was charged with drunk driving and his driver’s license was revoked, he was eventually fined 2 million KRW.
In 2018, the long legal battle between him and Ms. Choi ended; he sued her for attempted fraud and defamation. The prosecution sentenced Ms. Choi to pay a fine of 5 million won (approximately $4,600).
A week ago, it was announced that the actor would be making his grand return to the small screen through TV drama “When Time Stopped.” He will play the role of a time traveller who lives a lonely life without time; he does not age or have anything to worry about.
The drama is a fantasy romance, the time traveller’s life changes after he meets a woman who makes him feel like life has a meaning.
“When Time Stopped” is planning to start filming in July and will air in October. The drama will be 12 episodes.
Kim Bum
Kim Bum has also managed to create a name for himself throughout his career since “Boys Over Flowers.”
He also managed to shed his flower boy image and took on a couple of roles in many popular kdramas such as “That Winter, the Wind Blows,” and “Goddess Of Fire” where met his ex-girlfriend Moon Geun Young and “Mrs. Cop 2” where he played the bad guy.
In February 2012, it was announced that he was suffering from degenerative arthritis due to the dramatic weight-loss he experienced after training for his role in the JTBC cable drama “Padam Padam.”
He dated actress Moon Geun Young for 7 months and ended their relationship in 2014.
His most recent and last project before enlistment was “Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead” which snagged 18.5$ million in tickets sale.
On March 29, 2018, it was confirmed that he is in a relationship with actress Oh Yeon Seo from “Hwayugi.”
Actor Kim Bum enlisted as a public service worker on April 26, he enlisted as a public service worker because of his condition that his agency announced ahead of his enlistment.
He is suffering from a hereditary illness. His agency revealed that in order for him to recover, he put much attention into taking care of his health through medication and exercising.
The actor is set to be discharged in 2020.
Kim Joon
Kim Joon is probably the only “Boys Over Flowers” cast member who went MIA since the drama aired.
Being the oldest member of the F4, he was the first to enlist. He enlisted on 29 September 2011 and after his basic military training finished he enlisted as a conscripted policeman. He was discharged on 28 June 2013.
His last drama was 2015’s “City of the Sun.” He is currently more active in theatre than in TV and movies.
Not too long ago, he dropped a bomb when he revealed that he has been married for 3 years to a woman that he dated 9 years, even before he debuted in the entertainment industry.
He is now a father of a sweet daughter; he only recently announced this and shared a sweet photo with his daughter.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see him come back to the small screen through a production.
Lee Min Jung
Another married cast member of “Boys Over Flowers”. The beloved Lee Min Jung went on to establish a name for herself as a leading lady through various productions throughout the years.
She shared the screen with many actors in various productions such as “Big” “Cunning Single Lady” and “Please Come Back, Mister.”
“Please Come Back, Mister” aired back in 2016 and was her last drama; she has been away from the small screen for a while.
Lee Min Jung married actor Lee Byung Hun back on August 10, 2013. The couple had briefly dated in 2006, then resumed their relationship in 2012.
She is now a mother to a son, she gave birth to their first child, Lee Joon Hooback on 31 March 2015.
The actress has received various offers to return to both the big and small screen, she hasn’t made any official announcement yet, fans are eagerly waiting for her comeback.
Kim So Eun
Another actress of “Boys Over Flowers” who ended up finding her place in the entertainment industry.
The actress starred in “Happiness in the Wind,” “A Thousand Kisses,” “Liar Game” and “Scholar Who Walks the Night.”
She gained fame after she was paired with actor Song Jae Rim in “We got Married,” funny enough both actors shared the screen in the hit 2017 drama “Our Gap Soon” which rated a high of 20%.
Her most recent drama comeback was alongside CNBLUE’s Jonghyun in the OCN drama “That Man Oh Soo.”
She is one of the few cast members of the drama that hasn’t been involved in any dating scandals throughout her career.
Lee Si Young

Most of “Boys Over Flowers” fans might not even remember that Lee Si Young was also one of the cast members of the beloved kdrama.
She went on to lead many good dramas such as “Valid Love,” “Golden Cross” and most recently “Lookout.”
Besides being an amazing actress she is also a champion level female amateur boxer.
She gained a lot of attention for revealing she was pregnant after her drama “Lookout” wrapped up. She was dating a non-celebrity and announced that she would be getting married to him.
Her husband Jo Seung Hyun, is a businessman who works in the restaurant industry
In October 2017, they held their wedding ceremony and she welcomed her first child, a boy in January 2018.
Despite her busy 2017, she isn’t slowing any time soon. She is currently filming for her upcoming drama “Risky Romance” which will air its first episode in less than a month.

I was really sad when I watched the last episode because i had grown to love the show so much… then I found out there was a new spin off of the original show called “Meteor Garden”, I was overjoyed. 🙂
I have so enjoyed both movies, Boys Before Flowers. and Meteor Garden. The cast in both is awesome. Boys Before Flowers some places could of used help in the gross mouth-chewing and trying to act silly. Other than that I truly enjoyed both series.
