“Hwayugi” is one of the most popular Kdramas of 2018, and its also probably one of the most watched Korean dramas since 2018 begun.

“Hwayugi” is written by the Hong Sisters who have previously worked on so many memorable beloved kdramas, such as “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho,” “Masters Sun,” and many others.

It also boasts a star-studded cast including, Cha Seung Won, Lee Seung Gi, Lee hong Ki, Lee Ei, Oh Yeon Seo, and many others.

  1. Cha Seung Won and Kim Sung Oh are both married


Cha Seung Won has been married for such a long time, he married Lee Soo-jin in 1992. They had a daughter Ye Ni, she was born in 2003.

Actor Kim Sung Oh has also been married for a while, in December 2014 he married a non-entertainment person, 5 years younger than him.

They have a son, named Kim Ah Il.

Actor Sung Hyuk has been attracting a lot of attention for his portrayal of two character in the hit fantasy drama “Hwayugi.”

He plays Fairy Ha and General Winter, two spirits in a single body. General Winter is a sincere and loyal friend to So O Gong (Lee Seung Gi). He runs an ice cream shop and helps out O Gong whenever he’s needed.

His sister Fairy Ha is a warm and social character who runs a cocktail bar and listens to demons talk about their lives.

The actor he has been putting a lot of effort into his hair, make up and clothing for the two characters. Additionally, it was revealed that he had even lost weight for the drama.

His efforts are well received by audience. General Winter is rigid and angular while Fairy Ha is elegant and graceful with her gesture, tone, and atmosphere adds to the drama.

Sung Hyuk said,

“I think that the most important thing to consider in playing two characters is the acting, I always think of how I am going to manage the tone between two characters. I am trying to understand as much as I can. I don’t mind whether it was a girl I was playing. I just make sure I was playing a character.”

Beloved Korean actor and singer Lee Seung Gi is known for being a smart person in real life. He actually has two master degrees. He graduated from Dongguk University obtaining his degree in International Trade and Commerce on February 20, 2009 and received a Special Achievement Award during graduation.

He went on to get two master degrees, in trade Theory as well as Finance and Cultural Contents at Dongguk Graduate School.

Lee Seung Gi has had a duet with popular figure skater Kim Yuna. They both recorded a remastered version of his 2007 song “Smile Boy,” it became the official 2010 FIFA World Cup commercial song in South Korea.

It seems like Lee Seung Gi and Kim Yuna had a lot of fun filming for their MV.

  1. Lee Seung Gi joined “Hwayugi” as soon as he was discharged from the military


Back in late 2017, It was rumored for a while that the Hong Sister were eyeing Lee Seung Gi for the character of Son O Gong. The actor back then was still in the military but was said to be considering the offer positively.

Lee Seung Gi was discharged on October 31st, 2017, not long after, and on November 3rd he announced that he’d be taking on the lead role in “Hwayugi,” it is his first drama comeback since he existed the military.

Later that month, he joined the rest of the main cast for the drama first script reading. A lot of fans were excited for the drama because of Lee Seung Gi.

This isn’t Lee Ei’s first fantasy drama role and certainly not the most famous role she has been in. Before she recited her famous “Hwayugi” “do you want me to kill him/her/it?” she played Samchin Grandmother and had to stand still in a chair for 4 to 5 hours to apply the grandma makeup for the first episodes of the famous tvN drama “Goblin.”

As a result, she received the title “Suffering God,” and was given a Goblin doll for her hardwork on the drama.

  1. Lee Ei won’t ever refer to Goblin as the work of her lifetime


Despite the huge success of tvN’s “Goblin,” model and actress Lee Ei refuses to refer to the popular drama as her life’s best work, but she has a good reason for saying that.

In an interview with Magazine Star1, she was asked if the drama was her lifetime best project, she said couldn’t say it was because it would be disrespectful to projects she has already worked on and also to projects she will work on in the future.

That’s such a noble thing to say of Lee Ei.

On January 16, it was revealed that actor Jang Gwang had been involved in a car accident. His car was hit by another car while it was waiting at a red light.

The actor suffered from a headache but he insisted on filming and going to the drama shooting site since he was one of the first actors to film their scenes that day.

The back of his vehicle was damaged, the actor shot his scenes and later went to a hospital to get a thorough examination.

If that isn’t dedication, then what could be?

  1. Jang Gwang played a child molester in one of his most gruesome roles to date


Actor Jang Gwang is known for playing both good and bad character roles, but one of his most difficult-to-watch and gruesome roles had to be that of the headmaster twins in the 2011 movie “The Silenced.”

He played a child rapist and molester for his role opposite actors Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi. His role was actually based on a real person as the story of the movie is about hearing-impaired people who suffered at the hands of their principle at a school in South Korea.

  1. Actor Kim Sung Oh has went under serious transformation for one of his roles


One of the best and most underrated Korean actors has to be Kim Sung Oh. The actor can play any role you give him and has no problem changing his body for a role he’s playing, something not a lot of actors can easily do.

Kim Sung Oh played the villain role in the movie “Missing You” back in 2016. For his role he lost a shocking 16 kgs (32 pounds) for his role, he was almost unrecognizable when fans saw him on the screen.

  1. Oh Yeon Seo was in a serious WGM scandal with Lee Joon


Oh Yeon Seo has been acting since a young age and has only recently gained huge applause for her acting. Before that and back in 2013, she was involved in a huge scandal that put her under a lot of scrutiny.

She appeared alongside Lee Joon as an onscreen married couple in the fake popular variety show “We Got Married.” Shortly after their appearance in show, Dispatch revealed that Oh Yeon Seo was dating fellow actor and singer Lee Jang Woo.

That didn’t settle well with fans, who started viewing actress Oh Yeon Seo was an insincere fake person.

Her agency first confirmed the dating news, then retracted their statement and said that they were only close friends.

In an episode of “We Got Married” Oh Yeon Seo apologized for Lee Joon for the scandal and said,

“Jang Woo oppa and I got really close through the drama. We ate out together, drank tea together and talked a lot about acting and stuff. So when our picture was taken, I really didn’t know people would see that and think that we were dating. Honestly, this is the first time this happened to me so I thought too easily. I worried about you even more.”

This contradicted what her agency had stated before, and following the huge backlash her agency said that they were ‘just friends.’

She then later stepped down from the show along with Lee Joon. Audience criticized her for causing damage to Lee Joon who had been involved in this scandal unknowingly.

To make matters worse for her, her boyfriend back then, actor Lee Jang Woo’s agency didn’t really confirm or deny the dating rumors and kinda swept it under the rug.

Following that and a couple of months later, it was revealed that the two actors have broken up.

12. Oh Yeon Seo has previously appeared in many idols MVs including BIGBANG and 2AM.


Oh Yeon Seo is one lucky actress who has had the chance to work with two amazing acts in the Kpop industry.

She played BIGBANG’s lover in their Japanese MV for “With U,” and also in 2AM’s MV for “You Would answer My Calls.”
