Two people have been arrested regarding the investigation into the voting manipulation allegations against Mnet show “Produce X 101.”

This comes after police had requested arrest warrants for four individuals: CJ ENM producing director (PD) Ahn Joon Young, chief producer (CP) Kim Yong Bum, a PD named “Lee,” and Starship Entertainment’s vice president “Kim.”

On November 5, they showed up to the Seoul Central District Court to be questioned so their arrest warrant can be validated. Following the news, Mnet released an apology and also promised to cooperate with the police investigation.

A couple of hours later, head judge Myung Jae Kwon made the final decision, Ahn Joon Young and Kim Yong Bum’s arrest warrants were deemed valid and thus have remained under arrest. The other two were let go (but it doesn’t mean they’re free)

As for the reason, the judge stated that considering the importance of this issue and the producers’ roles in this case, the arrest warrant was “both necessary and reasonable.”

To better explain this, the arrest warrants are known as pretrial detention warrants. They’re issued whilst ongoing police investigation before the prosecution formal indictment with criminal charges, they’re requested to ensure that the suspects won’t attempt to destroy evidence, or flee the country or cause any other potential issues.
