SHINee’s Taemin, EXO’s Baekhyun, MONSTA X’s Shownu And More Idols Discharging From Military In 2023

With 2023 finally, in full swing, there are several idol stars who return to their fans after completing their military duties this year, making fans excited.

First, Seungwoo of Victon will be discharged on January 27th. Seungwoo, who enlisted in July 2021, has continued his military duty as an Army military musician.

EXO‘s Baekhyun, who is serving as a public service worker, will be discharged on February 5th. Due to hypothyroidism, Baekhyun was judged level 4 in a physical examination. He enlisted in May 2021 and is serving as a social worker. EXO has announced a full comeback this year.

Taemin is also scheduled to be discharged on April 4th. Taemin entered the training centre on May 31, 2021, and served active duty in the army band, but was transferred to supplementary service in January of last year due to poor health. With this, Taemin and all other members of SHINee complete their military duty, freeing up activities as a full group.

MONSTA X member, Shownu, will also be discharged on April 21st and will become the first member to complete military service. He has been performing alternative services as a social worker due to a history of retinal detachment surgery in his left eye and a dislocated shoulder.

Day6’s Young K, the first idol singer to join KATUSA, will also be discharged from the military on April 11. Day6’s other members, Dowoon and Wonpil, will also be discharged from the military on July 16 and November 27, respectively, ending their military service. Dowoon has served in the Army’s military band and Wonpil in the Navy.

ONF, the first idol group to join the army together, will return side by side. Starting with MK on June 20, J-Us and Wyatt on the 26th, and E-Tion and Hyojin on the 27th, they are scheduled to be discharged. They released a special album that they prepared in advance during their military service.

In addition, B1A4 Sandeul will be discharged in August, SF9 Inseong and Young Bin in September, Block B’s P.O., Golden Child Lee Daeyeol, Ace Kim Byungkwan in October, and ASTRO MJ in November.

A music official said, “These days, boy groups have been trying to soothe the regrets of military service and prevent the fandom from leaving with content prepared before enlistment.” adding, “It is expected that second and third-generation boy groups with strong fandom will be discharged one after another this year.”
