So, I’ve seen the newly released drama “Romance in The House,” lets talk about it!

Note: this article is a first-impression review, it doesn’t mean this is the writer’s final thoughts on the drama. This is a spoiler review.

The drama has been on my radar ever since I saw the casting news, I wondered what it would be like and I am happy to report that it was fun and relatable af.

The relationship between the mother and the daughter is too darn relatable, its portrayed so well and is one of my fav things about the premiere. So the essential plot seems to have some murder infused with it which I am guessing will be the driver of a lot of conflict and a core part of the drama, I wouldn’t say I mind this yet, but it could get tiring easily.

These days, it seems every romance kdrama has to have some sort of mystery/ murder plot attached to it, at this point its honestly more refreshing when it lacks it.

I personally don’t believe the dad killed the man but it would be immensely interesting if that was the case, I am guessing the end goal of this drama is about repairing relationships between the deadbeat dad and his family so I highly doubt the screenwriter would take such a risky plot move, even though it would make it 50 times more interesting.

For a premiere, it was fun but not gripping enough. This is the type of drama you watch to unwind, I wouldn’t say I was blown away by the premiere but I was entertained and related a lot to Naeun’s character as the eldest daughter in my family too.

I don’t necessarily feel the need to tune in to next week’s episodes but I know a lot who would. With that, if I tune in, I highly doubt that I wouldn’t be entertained either.

I also really liked the introduction to Minho’s character, it was super cute. Such a sweet aura he has. However, I do feel that the subplot of him being the son of the mart owner is kinda outdated.

Now onto performances, everyone was great and I am guessing I’ll see Ji Jin Hee pull all the stops for his role later on.

Naeun’s acting has improved a lot since I’ve last paid attention. I still feel she has issues with how she uses her lips but her facial expressions have improved a lot, she now has an idea of how to convey emotions on screen much better. Despite this, I would say her acting style is not to my personal liking, I don’t hate it but I wouldn’t say it draws me in.

I hope she learns a lot from the sunbaes she’s starring along and she’s doing well taking it seriously, I think there is still room for even more improvement down the line as long as she keeps trying.

Sanha’s performance is fine too, but I need to see more before I judge.

Overall, “Romance in the House” had a sweet premiere.

So, what about you guys? Did you like Romance in the House premiere? What are your thoughts on it?
