What could arguably be labeled one of the most anticipated Kdramas of the 2024’s 2nd half is finally here…. and its as glorious as expected! Lets talk about it!

Note: this article is a first-impression review, it doesn’t mean this is the writer’s final thoughts on the drama. This is a spoiler review.

I speak for everybody and I mean everybody [jk >.<] when I say we were so excited about the casting news, albeit typical and somewhat cliché, the combination of the actors and their potential chemistry was enough to make us swoon at the thought of their final get-together for the project, and they’ve delivered it guys, they’ve delivered it exactly as we expected it to be and even more.

If you’ve been following me for a while on this site you know I am not the biggest fan of ‘I knew you in the past’ trope thats been so overused in Kdramas for the past couple of years its honestly become quite annoying, do they like threaten screenwriters if they don’t include this trope?

But the basic and core premise of “Love Next Door” is based on this, familiarity and community, so its definitely a different case. Its expected, and in this case, done super well.

I expected to like the chemistry between Jung So Min and Jung Hae In and I was right, they’re sooooo cute together. Both actors generally have good chemistry with anyone they’re coupled with and this pairing its honestly already so cuteeeeee.

I loved the premiere episodes, they’re so warm. The sense of community, teasing and depth portrayed in the premiere episodes is enough to melt hearts. Truthfully, the script isn’t something special but the way its done is, execution matters.

This drama is written by screenwriter Shin Ha-Eun who is behind the hit “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” and I can sense it. She has a way of writing that feels so warm despite how typical her plots tend to be.

This drama will also be 16 episodes long and I have a sense that it will be a type of healing drama people fall for. I know this will be a hit internationally especially since its being distributed through Netflix too, and I expect it to also be a hit domestically unless the script’s quality goes down notably in the 2nd half.

I am so glad to see my So Min back, she’s been away for too long to my liking, and I am truthfully happy to see her on screen alongside Hae In,. They make the cutest on-screen couple for real.

So have you guys seen “Love Next Door” premiere? Thoughts?

  1. OMG, they are not even trying to make the script interesting. It is cliché after cliché. You can’t just bet on the performance and looks of actors. Kdrama is becoming quantity not quality. Sad.
