Yoon Doo Joon oppa is back reprising his role for “Let’s Eat 3,” and he’s here to steal my heart with his warm heart and good acting skills.

“Let’s Eat 3” is about love, life and food, FOOD in particular, a beautifully shot drama of amazing delicious Korean food that I wished I had tried when I visited Korea earlier this year.

“Let’s Eat 3” is the third installment of the beloved tvN series, the main cast changes every season but Yoon Doo Joon, he remains, why? Because its Yoon Doo Joon, that why!

Imma be honest and Imma shock you, I have never watched an episode of “Let’s Eat” series before. I heard good things about the drama, kdrama fans praised Yoon Doo Joon’s acting and the delicious food porn shots but I refused to watch it mainly because I didn’t want to see people enjoy their food so much while I settle in for 3rd grade ramyun.

It might sound stupid and indeed it is, but that’s the reason why I haven’t watched it yet, it makes sense, at least to me!

I watched a couple of episodes of “Radio Romance” earlier this year; I didn’t like it for obvious reasons ‘if you actually follow my blog.’ I thought Kim So Hyun was a miss-cast and that the drama wasn’t really anything special.

This didn’t mean I wasn’t going to watch Yoon Doo Joon in the 3rd installment of “Let’s Eat.” I love watching people enjoy their meal while I curse them for eating so much.

Having said that, I hate everybody in this drama! I hate them all! How dare they enjoy food in front of the poor me who has been trying to lose those 10 pounds for the past 7 months? How dare they show me these delicious food porn shots? How dare they tempt me with Korean food?

(I was being sarcastic in case you haven’t noticed)

Let’s put my envy of skinny people who eat as much as they want aside and discuss this drama…. For real.

Episode 1-4 review

For starters, I believe the writer never really intended this drama to be overly exciting or anything too special. Let me explain what I mean by this.

This drama doesn’t really make you wonder, it doesn’t keep you on the edge of your seat, it doesn’t discuss anything particularly out of the norm. Its about average people carrying on with their daily lives.

This means that at times, the drama can be a ‘tiny’ bit ‘meh!’

It means that its not fast paced, its not challenging but I don’t really believe the writer wanted that to begin with. I don’t think the writer or the director wanted this drama to be fast-paced or all over the place.

I am impressed because unlike other kdramas, this kdrama, in particular, doesn’t toy around with stereotypes much. It doesn’t have a dick male lead (thank the kdrama gods for that).

All the characters are; to a certain extent; lovable, they’re all flawed in their own way but there is a reason for it. I like that about the drama.

The drama features long shots of food being served and of characters eating. It’s a mukbang style drama so its only normal they would go about that direction. This means that a good solid 20 minutes of each episode is only close-up scenes of the main actors enjoying meals.

“Lets Eat 3” is a sweet refreshing (not in-your-face) type of drama. If your head is full of trouble, if you’re tired and don’t want to focus or use your brain much, if you love food (you better!) you will love this drama.

It is sort of a healing drama with no extraordinary plot or anything too unusual or freaky, it’s real and tasty.

I also like the chemistry between Baek Jin Hee and Yoon Doo Joon, they suit each other well. I didn’t like him alongside Kim So Hyun, but I like him with Jin Hee unnie, they have a friendly vibe and seem comfortable around each other.

Too bad, Jin Hee is already taken!

With some kdramas being overly cheesy ( Whats Wrong With Secretary Kim), some featuring fascinating and captivating historical battles (Mr. Sunshine), some toying around with the theme of power and money (Life, Are You Human Too and Time), this drama is very different from the other currently airing kdramas.

Its different from everything else airing at the moment. It might be a bit laggy at scenes, but its still engaging and lovable.

I would like to issue an official warning. This drama shouldn’t be watched on an empty stomach. Do whatever it takes to have a bowel of ramyun by your side while you watch preferably with side dishes to lessen the pain of watching everybody else enjoy food but you.

I want you to enjoy your time, not gain a couple of kg/pounds because you watched “Let’s Eat 3” on an empty stomach, what about that beach body you were working so hard for? … (if you were working for it! Is summer already over?)

So if this review got you excited, you can head over to Viki and watch this kdrama, here is the link (you’re welcome).

So what did you guys think of this drama? Do you recommend it?
