“Flower Of Evil” is a roller-coaster ride and episode 9 and 10 solidify the drama status as one of the best currently airing dramas.

Note: this is a subjective review and will contain spoilers of the said episodes in the title.

I wanna start by saying ‘I TOLD YOU SO, I TOLD YOU SO.’ Just wanted to get that out of the way, I had so much fun watching “Flower Of Evil” episode 9 and 10, I am still getting surprised and anxiety watching our Hyun Su and Ji Won struggle to keep everything under control.

Let’s talks episode 9 and 10 of “Flower Of Evil.”

Hee Seong’s return

As I said previously, I don’t believe Hee Seong is a terrible man at all but a victim of what happened and I still believe that the accident he had is somewhat connected to his father and Do Min Suk.

I also believe that he knew Ji Won and probably liked her a lot and was on his way to confess to her. I think he’ll be shocked when he sees that who took his identity is the one who got to be with her.

Baek Man Woo’s identity

Remember what I said when I reviewed episode 7 and 8 of “Flower Of Evil”? I told you the father has something to do with it. I still don’t know whether he’s the accomplice or not, he can be seen attempting to call that accomplice on his phone multiple times but suddenly just gives up, he probably wants to tell him that Hyun Su is looking for him but something is stopping him. I am guessing he has something to do with the murders of the women with Do Min Suk.

I didn’t like his character at first, but I don’t know guys, something tells me there is more to this story.

Hae Soo and Moo Jin

Their love story is so tragic and I feel for both. I am starting to like Moo Jin a lot, I think he’s grown to be a decent guy and I love how he keeps trying to make up for Hae Soo. I think deep down inside he knows she must’ve done it for something important not just committing a murder for the sake of it like her father.

Everything fits in everyone’s story, it all makes sense. This is a soap-opera style kdrama and is overly dramatic in certain scenes but I love every bit of it. If you guys follow this blog you know that I love fast-paced kdramas, I get bored easily and don’t like waiting for the plot to happen. In “Flower Of Evil,” I feel like the plot is always interesting, a bit predictable here and there but interesting nonetheless.

I don’t know if Hae Soo will serve jail time for killing that man and I am still interesting in knowing what Moo Jin did exactly but I have a feeling it has something to do with the actual Hee Seong. He could’ve accidentally led to his ‘murder’ and he might actually believe that he killed him…. or maybe not….

It would be very dramatic if they turn out to be connected somehow.

Moon Chae Won and Lee Joon Gi’s performances

I can’t praise the cast enough for their amazing performances and hard work. Moon Chae Won really shines here, I’ve been a fan since 2012 when I saw her with Song Joong Ki in “The Innocent Man.” She excels in such roles.

She literally owned episode 9 and 10 with her amazing performance and I understand her character and the way she’s reacting and I just love how Hyun Su was flustered to learn that she wants to leave him. I love how much he loves her, he just doesn’t know its called love.

Their chemistry is off the charts and Lee Joon Gi is just… AMAZING. Seriously, not only good looking but an amazing actor who gives his best. I must say I see a spark in his eyes when he’s acting. He’s been around for a while and he’s one of the very few experienced actors that I feel still have passion for acting and thoroughly enjoy it. I can tell he’s enjoying his time filming and his aura just says so. I don’t always see actors look this happy to act, I am also reminded of Kwak Dong Yeon, he’s also an actor who has passion for his craft, I can see it in his eyes too.

The preview looks intense and I think Hyun Su knows she knows but he just wants to save those people and get it over with so he could go back to his older life.

Last week I said that they might not make it, but now I realize I was wrong, I can see that Ji Won knows he loves her and his daughter and she loves him too much to let him go.

I think Hyun Su might end up serving prison sentence for fraud and impersonation or he might get a suspended sentence for all of this, he didn’t really do anything that deserves a prison sentence imo.

What’s next?

“Flower Of Evil” is seriously one of the best kdramas of 2020 but its not getting the attention it deserves in South Korea. 3% isn’t bad but I want it to do better. The timeslot is actually pretty difficult and the drama is still doing comparatively better than even public channel dramas, but if this drama was to be broadcasted Fridays and Saturdays, I think it could’ve become the next IT.

I don’t see many people talking about him but detective Choi Jae Sub is very charismatic and fun to watch. He’s smarter than he appears to be and an interesting individual. He captures the screen whenever he’s the focus. I just thought I should give him a shoutout, but everyone is amazing.

I think Ji Won and Choi Jae Sub will work together to bring the accomplice down while hiding Hyun Su’s identity, but I think they won’t succeed in that. The drama is moving at the pace that I just like so I believe things are about to get wayyy more interesting.

So these are my thoughts on “Flower Of Evil” episode 9 and 10. What about you guys? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

  2. Hello! Just want to let you know that despite the drama’s late time slot, there was demand for re-runs or replays of their episodes on tvN. You can check out tvN drama’s Instagram and once you see photos indicating different dates other than Wednesday and Thursday, those are for replays.
