ENA’s “Not Others” is finally here and is unexpectedly a lot better than I had anticipated, lets talk about it!

Note: this article is a first-impression review, it doesn’t mean this is the writer’s final thoughts on the drama. This is a spoiler review.

I found the casting for ENA’s “Not Others” to be quite interesting, so I was definitely curious about this drama.

Sooyoung has made interesting choices throughout her career and while I still believe she plays very similar characters, the scripts she chooses have good messages and overall good stories. Park Sung Hoon is also fresh from his “The Glory” massive success so I was definitely curious about this one.

I am happy to report that I thought ENA’s “Not Others” was equally hilarious and fresh, an interesting combo that definitely makes it one of the standout premieres of a 2023 kdrama.

I loved the dynamics between Sooyoung and Jeon Hye-Jin, I think they make a great pair. Their chemistry is amazing, and I totally buy they’re a mother-daughter dup. Jeon Hye-Jin was especially astounding. Her character is a bit crude, unapologetically messy, and flirtatious and I absolutely LOVED it. I love the way the character is written.

The mother’s character must have been very difficult to grow up with as a parent, but as an aunt, I would have loved to have her as part of my family. I hope they delve into exactly how much her approach affected her daughter later on. They share a cute bond, but I am sure there were many moments where Jin Hee needed a parent, not an older sister. That would be an interesting thing to explore.

The drama is surprisingly 16+ in some scenes, there are some scenes that surprised me because kdramas aren’t generally this blunt when discussing sex, masturbation, or such. I found that to be refreshing but I feel some netizens might have something to say about this.

ENA is a cable channel, so they have more leeway I believe. It will be interesting to see k-netizens reactions throughout the next couple of days.

I liked Sung Hoon’s character, it seems he’s this close to punching Jin Hee, the way he looks at her is hilarious, it’s a mix of annoyance, disappointment and worry. I can see why he might not like such a character considering he sticks to the rules [as it seems thus far] but I think there is more to this story.

It will be very interesting if they develop into lovers later on. This is a part I am looking forward to.

Luckily for us, Sooyoung shares good chemistry with all of her male co-stars and I am sure this will be a similar case.

“Not Others” premiere was definitely a breath of fresh air. I liked it a lot, I am excited for next week’s episodes.

So these are my thoughts on Not Others premiere, so what about you guys? did you like the episodes? let me know what you thought in the comment section below.
