“The Judge From Hell” episode 14 recap

The episode begins with Da-On visiting a funeral, but its not Bit-Na’s funeral but Oh Mi-Ja’s funeral. We get a flashback to when Kang Bit-Na was pronounced dead, but as Da-On cries over her body, she wakes up.

Bael shows up in hell and asks if she’s ready to be held accountable, just as he’s about to send her to hell, Gabriel shows up in the form of Oh Mi-Ja and instructs Bael to let her go. Because she vindicated the victims by handing in that death sentence and accepted the price for her actions, she was handed in a lighter sentence.

This also means that Oh Mi-Ja sacrificed herself to help Bit-Na stay alive. She heals her wound and she goes back to earth.

Jung Tae-Kyu applies for a special leave, escapes and then kills his lawyer. But he’s tricked that there is an issue with his passport while police and Bit-Na’s people find him.

Bit-Na’s people find him and force him to wait because there is an issue with his fake passport. He hides out at a remote villa where she awaits him.

She asks if he repented and he laughs in her face. So she begins torturing him. She first hunts him down and shoots him with arrows, then she chops off his limps like he did to Da-On’s parents and then he also fights Satan and loses his life in all scenarios.

In the last scenario, he’s brought back to the villa and she begins beating the crap out of him, he eventually begs for forgiveness and say he’s sorry but he doesn’t mean it. She beats him up so bad and eventually stabs him twice, his soul is sent to hell.

In the morning, police arrives, they discover his body hanged and the bodies of the people he killed and remains never found there along with all the coffins of those he killed as a memory.

At Oh Mi-Ja’s funeral, they all say goodbye and we get a flashback to a discussion she had with Bael who says he didn’t know she’d get an angel involved.

She asks if she’s still his heir and he says she’s always been that. She asks for a promise, she’s given a three year vacation and will return once its over. She is assigned to another city and leaves to work there for two years.

2 years later

while Da-On visits her she learns she’s been reassigned back to Seoul. She checks up on several of the past victims who suffered at the hands of the people she eventually killed and learns they’re ok.

As she returns to the same neighborhood which is now a lively place, she learns that Koo Man-Do was trying to become a Buddhist to avoid hell. Yoo Jung-Im opened up a restaurant and Jang Myung-Sook relationship with her daughter is much better now.

She’s welcomed back warmly this time and discovers judges Seo Hwa-Sun and Ahn Dae-Yong are getting married. The head judge Na Young-Jin who used to be her boss is now a successful YouTuber.

As she’s leaving work, Bit-Na stumbles upon Dahui and her new friend, and she invites them to lunch, as they’re eating, the student begins sharing the fries and she asks why he’s doing it, then she sees its gabriel and she’s happy he’s there.

At her office, Bit-Na is confronted with Bael who offers her a new lifeline. Lucifer has made her an offer, if she kills 10 people with the year she has left she’ll stay as a human, but if she does not, she’ll return and become Bael’s heir as she was always meant to be.

At night, she contemplates this with Da-On who is very supportive and says he’ll trust whatever decision she’ll make, she’s torn because handing out easy sentences to criminals will hurt the victims.

On another day while overseeing a case of another stalker, he’s very cocky and says the victim is not dead yet. She’s furious and ends the trial early.

As she goes out, she sees a bunch of kids getting orientation and does basically the same thing in the 1st episode. When they ask her if she’s a good or bad judge, she says she’s a judge from hell.

The end.

“The Judge From Hell” ending review

aint no lie, that was a cute ending. Liked it.

This is by far my personal fav performance by Shin Hye, she truly shined here and showed me a different side of herself.

I liked the ending. There are two choices and I think there is a 50% 50% chance she picks either. I mean if she picks to stay, then we can have a smaller 2nd season that also targets 10 different criminals but if we don’t, I think it’ll also make sense because she promised Bael she’d return and its always been her place as his heir.

The 2nd choice fits better with her promise, but if she loves Da-On that much, she might try to kill 10 and stay. I’d love both options to be honest. Not mad if she chose either.

Overall, this has one of the most fun vindicating kdramas I’ve seen in recent memory, all around a great project.

Side note, I miss Shin Sung Rok badly… when is he coming back with a drama? its been TOOO LONG. His presence in the drama was amazing, the perfect person to be Bael.
