tvN’s “A Piece of Your Mind” will come to an end a lot sooner than fans expected.

On April 8, an insider told Sports Chosun that the drama will end with 12 episodes instead of 16, the choice was made due to its lackluster ratings. Its April 7 episode recorded 1.2%, its lowest so far.

“A Piece of Your Mind” tells a love story between Jung Hae In and Chae Soo Bin’s character, however, the drama received negative feedback for focusing too much on the main character (played by Jung Hae In) obsession with a character named Ji Soo, his first love, its been described as ‘slow-paced’ and ‘boring.’

The drama was unable to match the success of its precedent drama “The Cursed” that recorded over 6% in ratings.  “A Piece of Your Mind” has become the lowest-rated tvN drama for the past two years.

“A Piece of Your Mind” side has reportedly already old the actors that the drama will be ending earlier, CJ ENM took this choice for a fast-paced plot development. tvN later confirmed with a statement that they’ve decided to do this to ‘meet the standards of the viewers who have shown their love for this drama.’

My personal thoughts

I was planning on writing about “A Piece of Your Mind” mid-ways and why I find the drama main theme troubling, but I understand the choice made here and I kinda agree with it. I don’t see how on earth “A Piece of Your Mind” could fit 16 episodes with this pace and this script to be honest with you.

tvN drama have been enjoying good success and its rare to see any of its drama getting only 1% in ratings these days. I have just finished watching the 6th episode and I must say, I don’t hate the drama and I actually started to like it but I can see why it’s being criticized by netizens.

The article about my detailed thoughts on “A Piece of Your Mind” is coming soon, so keep an eye on the blog.

  1. Honestly I don’t mind the drama being slow-paced. I like the writing style so much, it’s giving me peace while watching each episode. I don’t get why people don’t like it making the episodes shorter, but I’ll support them either way. Just because I’m already in love with Ha Won, Seo Woo, and Ji Soo love interest.

  2. I love A Piece of Your Mind…. I enjoy the growth of Ha Won and Seo Woo relationship… Because it will be unrealistic if Ha Won fall in love to Seo Woo too soon.
Jung Hae In is a very good actor.

  3. Actually I love the drama so much….I think that drama has got a lot of international fans rather than Korean fans(I guess so..)…..I was seriously dumbstruck and heart broken after seeing this news….I seriously want to see 16 episodes not 12it is just that the drama is moving tad slower….hut otherwise… it’s just Bliss watching it..❤️
    Love from India..
    Jung Hae In ..fighting❤️

  4. I am just so sad that this happened but i think this is just due to the fact that people nowadays have more worries on their minds thinking about the pandemic that is happening all over the world and on how to survive. Its not the actors’ fault though they may be affected in some ways..but we are talking of Hae In and Soo Bin here people, all good actors. Nevertheless, the writer of this k-drama is up for a challenge. He still have what…6 or 5 episodes to make the story more exciting. And i hope in the future, Hae In can be offerred action roles too. He will kill the role, im sure of it..

  5. It’s just like Weather Is Fine. At first few episodes, there were also negative comments, but as the episode goes by, the story became interesting and i love it. Same with A Piece of Your Mind. The story were first focused on Ha Won and Ji Soo for the viewers to understand how the story started. But there’s already a suave twist of love interest between Ha Won and Seo Woo. I guess, cutting the drama would only disappoint international viewers. Instead, a challenge for the writer to draw a more compelling storyline. We Filipino viewers are really looking forward on how the love of Ha Won and Seo Woo will spring up to episode 16.
So please don’t shorten this drama. #Fighting!

  6. It’s already the 7th episode but I can’t seem to like this drama like I am loving “When The Weather is Fine”. I don’t understand how an AI program can derive a memory from just the voice of the person like it did with Jisoo. That’s just impossible! I would have liked it better if they just set up the AI to have a similar thought process as the actual person but memories?! That’s just extremely fantastical! Why did Jisoo need to go to Norway just to ask for forgiveness for something she was not responsible for? Jisoo’s death did not have to be that tragic, did she not check the weather forecast? I mean, common writers! Please do this better. I hope Hawon will not be making another AI from Seowoo’s mother’s voice. I hope the remaining episodes will be better thought out.
