Former IZ*ONE member and actress Kang Hye Won has revealed that she has no plans for a singing career.
Recently, Kang Hye Won sat down for an interview to discuss Coupang Play’s “Boyhood” and more at a café.
“Boyhood” is a dynamic youth drama that tells the story of Jang Byeong-tae, a loser from Onyang in Chungcheongnam-do, who has the lifelong goal of not fitting in and living comfortably, but suddenly becomes a gangster overnight.
In the drama, Kang Hye Won played the role of Kang Sun-hwa, a beautiful woman who captivates Jang Byeong-tae with her innate beauty and charm, receiving much love.
Kang Hye Won, who received much love as an idol in the group IZ*ONE, talked about her transition to acting, saying, “Fortunately, I had many opportunities, and since this is also a field of interest, I decided to challenge myself.”
She added, “When I was active as a singer, I experienced various emotions through my fans. As an actress, I feel that I can make people feel various emotions through myself, so I work harder and feel more sincere.”
When asked if she had always dreamed of becoming an actress rather than a singer, she replied, “Not really.” She also said, “I don’t have any plans for a singing career, but I still have good memories and emotions. I do hope that one day I will have the opportunity to do it again.”
As for the reaction of the other IZ*ONE members to “Boyhood,” she said, “I was grateful that my friends watched the first episode even though they were busy. They left comments saying it was fun, and I was touched.” When asked if they discuss acting in depth, she laughed and said, “We don’t delve too deep into it, but we talk about small things like ‘How do you prepare for certain scenes?’ or ‘What do you do when you’re feeling tired?’ It’s nice to be able to sympathize with each other.”
When asked about the areas or characters she wants to challenge in the future, she said, “I like comedy, so even though it’s not my usual style, I think it would be fun to try a role that is funny.”
