Last night, “Bungee Jumping of Their Own” production team announced the drama will not be remade anymore, and we finally might have found out the real reason behind the sudden unexpected decision.

Lee Hyun Wook and NCT Jaehyun were set to lead the upcoming drama which is based on a movie by the same name.

The original movie was released on the 3rd of February 2001 and the original production team was said to be collaborating with Kakao TV to ensure the drama stays true to its original story.

A source from Kakao told news outlets that during the planning process, they’ve received words of concern from the original screenwriter. Despite the fact that the original production rights belong to the production company, after thorough discussions, they’ve decided to respect the wishes of the original screenwriter, and as a result, the remake will not be going through.

On December 10, a news outlet quoted industry insiders on the possible reason behind the drama’s cancellation. According to industry insiders, the drama was canceled due to the screenwriter change of ‘religious beliefs.’

According to the sources, the screenwriter became a devoted Christian some time after working on that script back in 2001. However, when they found out the script was being remade, they contacted the director of the film’s production company and stated that they ‘strongly opposed’ the remade adding they would be taking strong legal action if the production company was to proceed with the remake.

Unfortunately, the source states that there was no room for negotiation since the reasoning behind the refusal was based on religious beliefs.

But what was the plot of “Bungee Jumping Of Their Own”?

“Bungee Jumping Of Their Own” is about a man named Seo In Woo who is unable to forget his deceased lover Tae Hee. He works as a high school teacher and one days meets fellow male student who speaks and acts exactly like his deceased lover, he begins to develop feelings for the student Hyun Bin. Lee Hyun Wook was cast to play Seo In Woo and Jaehyun was cast to play Hyun Bin.
