“The Sentencing Is Too Lenient,” The Prosecution Appeals Yoo Ah In’s Prison Sentence
Actor Yoo Ah In (real name Uhm Hong Sik) was sentenced to one year in prison in the first trial for habitual drug use charges, but the prosecution has appealed, claiming the sentence is too lenient.
On the 4th of September, according to Money Today, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office filed an appeal with the intention of requesting a heavier sentence for Yoo Ah In.
The prosecution stated the reason for the appeal, saying, “Despite the severity of the crime, which includes the habitual purchase and use of various drugs such as marijuana, propofol, and zolpidem over a long period, and instigating the destruction of evidence to obstruct judicial procedures, a sentence significantly lower than the four years of imprisonment requested by the prosecution was handed down.”
Yoo Ah In was sentenced to one year in prison at the first trial held on the 3rd of September for drug use and was taken into custody in court, he was sent to prison shortly thereafter.
