“The King: Eternal Monarch” ratings are not growing as fast as everyone had expected.
Two days ago, SBS aired the highly anticipated drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” to massive success. It broke SBS’s record to become its highest-rated weekend drama opening ever. Despite the expectation that “The King: Eternal Monarch” will continue with its growth for its second day, it was not reflected in last night’s episodes.
According to Nielsen Korea, April 18 episodes of “The King: Eternal Monarch” scored an average of 8.4% (episode 3) and 11.6% (episode 4), for its first half that is a noticeable decline compared to the 10.1% it scored with episode 1, however, “The King: Eternal Monarch” scored a personal new best record with its fourth episode by 0.2%, it previously scored 11.4% with its second episode.
The ratings were expected to be higher, meanwhile, netizens are sharing mixed reactions to the premiere of “The King: Eternal Monarch.” Some loved the premiere while other shared that they had higher expectations.
What do you think of “The King: Eternal Monarch” so far? Do you like it?
My Personal Thoughts
I’ve already reviewed the first two episodes read about it here and here.
So far “The King: Eternal Monarch” has been okay, the first episode was a lot more fun to me than the second one. However, I think it’s too early to judge the drama, I need at least four more episodes to render a better judgment.
What I can comment on is this: “The King: Eternal Monarch” has an uphill battle ahead of it. It will be compared to “The World Of The Married” a lot since they air on the same days and almost clash in the timeslots. I don’t think it will be able to compete with it, besides the buzz around the drama, “The World Of The Married” even from the very start has been a lot more shocking and a lot more fun, and this is not only my opinion but many others as well and you can see it reflected in the ratings. I honestly walked into “The World Of The Married” with zero expectations but was extremely shocked to see how good it was.
I hope the writing for “The King: Eternal Monarch” gets better with the next episodes, so far, I could also tell I wasn’t liking the pairing between Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun. I can’t see them together. I think it’s just me who thinks that.
I agree with you they don’t have chemistry and I am not blaming Lee Min Ho for it because he has chemistry with the other actresses he’s working with while the female lead struggles with that.
I agree.i wish it was another leading lady.theres no chemistry at all.kinda annoying for me.just my opinion
