“The Glory” Actress Park Ji Ah Passes Away At 52
Actress Park Ji Ah, who portrayed Song Hye Kyo’s mother in the hit Netflix series The Glory, has passed away at the age of 52 due to complications from a stroke.
On September 30, her agency, Billions, confirmed the tragic news, stating, “Park Ji Ah passed away at 2:50 a.m. today, at the age of 52, after battling a cerebral infarction. We will forever remember her passion for acting until her final days. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers for her as she embarks on her final journey.”
Cerebral infarction, commonly known as an ischemic stroke, occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is blocked, often due to a blood clot or a narrowing of blood vessels. This lack of blood flow deprives brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients, leading to the death of brain cells in the affected area.
Her wake is being held in Room 2 of Asan Medical Center, with the funeral scheduled for 10 a.m. on October 2.
Park Ji Ah’s standout performance in The Glory as the mother of Moon Dong Eun (played by Song Hye Kyo) left a significant impact, and she also appeared in films like A Split Second and Hijacking, as well as JTBC’s drama Strong Girl Nam-soon.
Park Ji Ah made her debut in 2002 in the late director Kim Ki Duk’s film The Coast Guard, and went on to appear in other notable films such as Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring, 3-Iron, and Breath. Her untimely passing has deeply saddened fans and colleagues alike.
May her soul rest in peace.
