SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The First Responders 2” has shocked fans with its last weekend’s episodes when it was revealed that Son Ho Jun’s Character Dong Do Jin had been killed off.
“The First Responders 2” depicts the collaboration between firefighters, police officers, and the National Forensic Service as they confront unprecedented incidents.

In the 3rd episode of “The First Responders 2”, Bong Do Jin (played by Son Ho Jun) was revealed to have died due to the second explosion of the material warehouse, adding to the regret and utter shock experienced by all of the supporting characters upon discovering his body.
In this situation where Bong Do Jin faced death, he sacrificed himself by consuming a candle used as a “fire delay device” to leave evidence of the serial arsonist, delivering a moving moment. Even in death, he’s trying his best to be as useful in tracking down culprits as possible.
When his body is discovered by Jin Ho Gae, he’s shocked, he starts crying, when the rest of the collaborative teams arrive, they also see his burnt face lying on the ground.

After the broadcast, viewers expressed strong reactions, finding the plot development unbelievable. The reason for this was the question of whether it was necessary to kill off the main character so early in the series.
Son Ho Jun received a lot of love from viewers for portraying an upright firefighter and was considered one of the pillars of the main cast of the drama.
The episode was also covered extensively in Korean media as reporters also expressed shock at titular character’s sudden death so early on in the series 2nd season.
Many fans have also declared they would stop watching the drama following the character’s death. The ratings for the 4th episode last week was 6%, a 0.5% decrease from 6.5% recorded for the 3rd episode. Son Ho Jun’s reactions to his character Dong Do Jin’s death in “The First Responders 2”
To the shock of fans, Son Ho Jun revealed in an interview following his departure from the series that he started filming for season 2 knowing his character would be killed off earlier on in the series.
In an interview, he said, “Even though I knew from the beginning that Do Jin would die, there was no regret. However, I do feel a sense of regret that I can’t work longer with the good people on the set.”
