Coupang Play’s new series “Anna” has confirmed its start-studded lineup!

On October 20, Coupang Play stated via an official statement that Suzy, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Joon Han, and Park Ye Young have confirmed for the upcoming drama “Anna.” Filming for the drama has already begun on October 15.

“Anna” was originally pictured as a movie and has now become an eight-episode drama about a woman who starts off by telling a small life and winds up living as someone else.

Suzy has been cast as Yoo Mi, the woman who lies and ends up living someone else’s life. Jung Eun Chae will play the role of Hyun Joo, a woman who believes she’s above all but doesn’t treat people with kindness or malice. She has a tense subtle relationship with Yoo Mi.

Kim Joon Han has been cast as Yoo Mi’s husband, Ji Hoon. He is ambitious and future-oriented. Park Ye Young has been cast as Ji Won, a senior whom Yoo Mi depends on and the only person she trusts.

My personal thoughts- written by Jass K.

That’s a surprising cast.

I don’t know how to feel about the pairing of Suzy and Kim Joon Han. He’s 11 years older than her and he looks his age, meanwhile, Suzy looks like she could still be in her early 20s. It feels a bit odd.

Its not that on-screen couples with large gaps shouldn’t or can’t exist but this pairing struck me as odd. Added to that, Kim Joon Han is a terrific actor and he’s very underrated but doesn’t have good chemistry with any of his female leads, in my opinion. Suzy has been paired with actors around her age or a bit older for a while now, this is the first one that seems to be different from what we’re used to. It could be that the drama will not be focusing much on the romance.

On the more important part, Coupang Play will air its first-ever drama soon. It will be led by Kim Soo Hyun. They haven’t aired their first drama but they’re already working hard to cast other huge names for big productions.

At this stage, it feels like Korean OTT platforms are playing catch up with Netflix. Who will end up winning the race? We don’t know, but it’ll definitely be an interesting time. Also, have you guys noticed that the drama will be 8 episodes? I’ve been noticing that almost all of OTT platforms kdramas are 8 episodes long. While we have the standard 16 in TV shows, 8 episodes seems to be becoming the norm. I’d much rather a short drama than a drawn out lengthy drama.
