“Squid Game” has made history after the 28th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards aired.
Previously, “Squid Game” was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, which is the top prize in the SAG Awards’ drama category. Lee Jung Jae was nominated for Best Actor in Drama Series while Jung Ho Yeon was nominated for Best Actress in Drama Series. Lastly, “Squid Game” was also nominated for Best Stunt Ensemble in a TV Series.
The drama ended up taking home three of the four awards that night, breaking and setting multiple records worldwide.
“Squid Game” made history as the first non-English-language TV series and the first Korean series to win at the award show. Firstly, they took home the award for ‘Best Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series.’
Later, Jung Ho Yeon ended up taking home the award for Best Actress in Drama Series. The actress expressed her gratitude as she fought back tears during her acceptance speech.
Lastly, Lee Jung Jae took home the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series. He also expressed his gratitude and shock to win the award.
