Actor Song Joong Ki is making his first appearance at Cannes!
His agency announced on the 18th, “Song Joong Ki’s film ‘ Hopeless’ has been officially invited to the prestigious section of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival, drawing attention. This marks Song Joong Ki’s first time walking the red carpet at Cannes.”
‘ Hopeless’ is an action noir film that depicts the story of a boy named Yeon Gyu (played by Hong Sa Bin) who wants to escape from the hellish reality and gets involved with Chigun (played by Song Joong Ki), a middle boss of an organization, entering a dangerous world together.
Song Joong Ki’s portrayal of Chigun, an intense character he has not shown before, has garnered much interest.
Upon completing the filming of ‘ Hopeless,’ Song Joong Ki expressed his gratitude, saying, “I believe this is a film that should be made in Korean cinema, a work with significant value. I am thankful to be able to participate in such a project. I am curious to see how the passion on set will be reflected in the film.”
Now, his fiery passion will extend beyond Korea and reach the global stage.
After its premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival, ‘ Hopeless’ is scheduled to be released in theaters this year. Song Joong Ki is currently busy filming his next project, the movie.
