I just want to give an opinion on what happened at the end of this drama NWABU. It’s just an opinion who followed the story from the start (1st ep) to finish (16th). Hopefully, there are some lessons we have learned from the NWABU story.
If you look at the storyline, it is what we see it is “a realization”. Because this story is about the lives in the real world, not just fictional life that we often see which makes us fall in love with the actors. And it is not mainly focused on the main lead only but the story of the whole casts.
In the last episode 2 nights ago the finale made the viewers disappointed because the love story of the main actors didn’t reached the expectations of many, it was hanging and vague. But, if we want to go back to the flow and plot of the story, they just met accidentally after 2 years and it’s impossible to run and embraced one another or kiss right away since they broke up, right? But to tell you that in ep 12/13 (unsure what episode) before they broke up they had promised at the park that if they met again after parting HYE would think it was fate because they were destined to each other and if that happened HYE won’t make any excuses again not to accept JG. And JG answered back that if that happened he would never let go of her again. Actually, it fits the storyline and the title perfectly as well as the characters. HYE facial expression was exactly the character in the script.
But for the audience, it wasn’t a good ending because we were used to like and see happy endings, like they got married or they dated again something like that, so some viewers are definitely dismayed. Like me, I was also disappointed at first. But, back in the real world, could we possibly hug an ex boyfriend/girlfriend right away after 2 years of not seeing each other? It must be awkward right? We can only asked them “how are you?” “how you’re doing?”
For me watching a drama, will have the positive and the negative impact to the viewers. This drama is a showcase of a realistic story that can happened in the real world, such as HYE’s parents who have been married for a long time but failed and got divorce, her friend who died with a deadly illness knowing her husband had cheated on her but still their love was greater than those obstacles, an ill mother who wanted to do everything for her daughter, her friend who became successful and got herself a good guy after so many heartbreaks, her co-workers who fall in love with each other (exo-sehun), JaeGuk’s mother whom despite her wealth eats alone, the fiance who still loved her deceased fiance (JGs brother) and lastly the story of HYE and JG was not as easy as we want it to be because it’s too complicated for JG and HYE’s parents. But, because of their promise before, the last episode smiling at each other with that expression only means that they will be dating again. That is the puzzle for the audience. Letting go of someone is not because you don’t love them, but because you love them so you have to be able to sacrifice and let go to discover what you are missing. Watching this drama needs ESQ and critical thinking not just watching the visual. Thank you
Nice for Song Hye Kyo for the good final rating of the series “Now we are breaking up”. She deserves it as she is a good actress!
