Actors Ra Mi Ran and Lee Re participated in the script reading of the drama “Strange Snack Shop Jeoncheondang”.
“Strange Snack Shop Jeoncheondang” is a fantasy drama depicting the magical story of the mysterious candy store Jeoncheondang, where the mysterious owner Hong Ja sells wishes-granting sweets.
Director Park Bong Seop, who has shown solid directing skills regardless of genre, such as OCN’s “Wonderful Rumor” and tvN’s “Eve” will direct “Strange Snack Shop Jeoncheondang”, which is based on the best-selling series, which has exceeded 2 million copies in cumulative sales in Korea.
Ra Mi Ran, who has led box office success with her irreplaceable acting skills in the dramas “Reply 1988” and “Black Dog”, and the films “Girl Cops” and “Honest Candidate”, takes on the role of Hong Ja, the mysterious owner of Jeoncheondang, and transforms her acting into a different kind.
The role of Yo Mi, the owner of Jeoncheondang’s rival snack shop Hwaangdang, will be played by Lee Re, who revealed her unrivaled presence that overshadows her young age in every work, including the dramas “Roots of The Throne,” “Hellbound,” and “Seven Years’ Night” and “Peninsula.”
Ra Mi Ran said, “I felt as if I was watching a real drama because all the characters I had only read in the script were in front of me,” and “I imagined the mysterious sweets sold by Hong Ja granting the wishes of the customers. I’m so excited to see how it will be implemented, and I think it will be very interesting to see it as a drama.”
Lee Re said, “I acted with senior Ra Mi-ran for the first time in the movie ‘Wish’. At the time, I was too young to have a chance to talk and work together, but I am so honored to be acting together again in such an interesting work. I want to make the character Yo Mi into a character that viewers will want to see again and again,” she said, revealing her extraordinary determination.
The drama “Strange Snack Shop Jeoncheondang” is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2023.
