Actor Yoo Ah In (real name: Uhm Hong-sik), who is suspected of using illegal drugs, refused to attend the second round of questioning as reporters gathered.

Yoo Ah In was scheduled to attend the second round of questioning at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency at 10 a.m. on the 11th, but did not show up as expected.

On May 15, Director Woo Jong-soo, head of the National Investigation Headquarters at the National Police Agency, said during a meeting, “It would be better to coordinate the attendance date for the investigation as quickly as possible,” and stated that they would consider options such as arrest and applying for a warrant if that is not possible.

Media outlets reported that although the police rescheduled the attendance date, it was reported that Yoo Ah In insisted on a private summons. If Yoo Ah In continues to refuse the summons, the police is reportedly considering forced measures such as arrest and applying for a warrant.

Director Woo stated, “Regarding the summons date and timing, (Yoo Ah In’s side) reacted very sensitively, so we cannot disclose the investigation plan.”

When asked whether they would consider arrest or applying for a warrant if Yoo Ah In refuses the investigation citing a private investigation, Director Woo said, “If it cannot be coordinated, then of course, we will have to resort to that.”

Previously, it was reported that media outlets said he came to the vicinity of the narcotics investigation division to attend on May 11, but when more than 50 reporters, including photo and video journalists, gathered, his lawyer suggested he should not attend, and they left.

The law firm representing him said, “We received a request to attend from the narcotics investigation division last week and requested a private hearing, which the police agreed to, but news reports came out the day before the investigation. When we asked the police, they said they had not disclosed the date and would proceed privately as planned. However, after checking the content of the news report and the situation on site, it was clear that the attendance schedule had been made public. Yoo Ah In requested that he attend the investigation through another route in accordance with the principle of a private summons, but the police did not accept it.”
