Rookie Actress Park Hae Eun has left the cast of the upcoming Hong sisters drama “Return.”
On July 8, tvN told news outlets that Park Hae Eun who was cast in the drama has left it after discussions with the production crew.
Park Hae Eun had already participated in the first script reading of the drama but has decided to leave the cast.
But why did this happen?
tvN stated that Park Hae Eun felt a lot of pressure to play the lead in a major project and thus, after multiple discussions with the production team, they’ve decided she should step down from the role. Her agency also released a similar statement.
However, one Korean news outlet exclusively reported that she was asked to leave due to her poor acting skills. Neither tvN nor her agency have brought up her acting skills when confirming her departure from the project.
According to various reports, the cast had already started filming. And while its uncommon for a lead to leave the drama after confirming [especially if they’re not involved in controversy], it’s almost unheard of for news outlets to report that the reasoning was ‘poor acting skills.’
It’s worthy to note that Park Hae Eun only has one drama to her name, she’s previously played a minor role in Netflix’s “The School Nurse Files.”
Lee Jae Wook, NU’EST Hwang Min Hyun, OH MY GIRL Arin, Oh Na Ra and Joo Sang Wook already confirmed casting for the drama.
This project marks the Hong sisters first comeback project since the massively successful drama “Hotel Del Luna,” it will be directed by Park Joon Hwa of “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.” Hong sisters have worked on so many hit dramas including “You’re Beautiful,” “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho,” “The Greatest Love,” and “Master’s Sun.”
The drama is set for broadcast in the second half of this year.
