Actress Youn Yuh Jung will make a fresh start with an American agency.
According to the U.S. media Deadline, entertainment and sports agency CAA (Creative Artists Agency) signed Youn Yuh Jung, the first Korean actor to win the Academy Award, SAG Award, and Independent Spirit Award in 2021.
The outlet explained that Youn Yuh Jung received numerous honors such as her historical Oscar win and is known for her works “Minari” and “Pachinko.”
Youn Yuh Jung, who won the Oscar and wrote a new history in the Korean film industry, recently ended her exclusive contract with Hook Entertainment. Youn Yuh Jung ended her exclusive contract after several controversies surrounding her agency, including a dispute with Lee Seung Gi.
Youn Yuh Jung signed a contract with the CAA about a month after leaving Hook Entertainment, announcing her full-fledged activities.
The CAA is one of the top three agencies in the U.S. and includes leading Hollywood actors such as Steven Spielberg, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, and John Clooney. Korean actors include Lee Jung Jae, Kang Dong Won, and Jung Ho Yeon.
