According to a broadcasting official on the 23rd of October, “Lee Sun Kyun is leaning towards leaving the drama ‘No Way Out’ and has requested two weeks to organize and discuss with other cast members and staff.”
Since drug allegations involving Lee Sun Kyun emerged on the 19th, the production company reportedly held internal meetings starting on the 20th. The meeting concluded that Lee Sun Kyun’s departure was inevitable, and they are currently coordinating the specifics.
Later, a source from the drama confirmed the news that he’s departing the drama as it’ll take a long time to organize his situation and the production team had agreed to accept it.
‘No Way Out’ began filming on the 16th. Lee Sun Kyun’s first shooting day was scheduled for the 20th but was temporarily postponed due to drug allegations. Lee Sun Kyun is essentially the key role in the production, with the most significant lines and weight. However, due to various allegations and concerns about the actor’s performance, rearranging the schedule became complicated, and they considered the possibility that these allegations could prove to be true.
‘No Way Out’ is a mystery thriller that depicts a public murder-for-hire situation with a 20 billion won bounty as a heinous criminal is released. In the drama, Lee Sun Kyun plays a police officer who is protecting the citizens from the notorious killer.
Meanwhile, the Incheon Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division announced that they are currently investigating Lee Sun Kyun and eight others on suspicion of violating drug control laws.
