Lee Jung Jae Is Not Attending The 2022 Golden Globes Due To The Ongoing Boycott
Lee Jung Jae will be skipping this year’s Golden Globes despite being nominated for an award.
Lee Jung Jae has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his performance in “Squid Game.” “Squid Game” was also nominated for Best Television Series – Drama, and O Yeong Su was nominated for Best Supporting Actor – Television.
Recently, Lee Jung Jae’s agency confirmed the actor will not be attending the Golden Globes despite being immensely grateful for the nomination. This decision was made for many reasons and among them is the announcement that Netflix is not participating in the Golden Globes, as reported by foreign media. He’s also made this decision with the COVID-19 situation in mind.
The Netflix boycott was a result of the allegations of corruption and lack of diversity that spread about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization that chooses the winners. As a result, a boycott has been called upon Hollywood stars and many top actors and names have stated they won’t be attending the show. Studios like Netflix, Amazon, and Warner Media have announced that they will not participate in the Golden Globes or work with the HFPA until reforms were put in place. NBC, which broadcasted the show, will not be airing it this year.
