Lee Jung Jae Confirmed To Lead Upcoming Disney+ “Star Wars” Series

Actor Lee Jung Jae has been cast as the male lead in the new Disney+ “Star Wars” series and will meet with global viewers once again with Hollywood actress Amanda Stenberg.

U.S. entertainment media, including the Hollywood Reporter, reported on the morning of September 8 that “Squid Game star Lee Jung Jae has been cast as the male lead in Disney+’s new series “Star Wars” “Acolyte.”

Lee Jung Jae, who has emerged as a global star, will mark him as the first overseas film to appear as a leading actor.

The female lead, Amandla Stenberg, has worked in “Dear Evan Hansen” (2021), “The Darkest Mind” (2018), “Wear Hands Touch” (2018), “Everything Everything” (2017), and “As You Are (2016).”

Amandla Stenberg, born in 1998, is an African-American and is 24 years old this year. She is striving to work towards improving race and women’s rights and was selected as an influential teenager by Time magazine for the second consecutive year between 2015 and 2016.

Jodie Turner-Smith of the films “After Yang” (2022) and “Queen and Slim” (2019) has also been cast. Jodie was born in 1986.

The new series “Acolyte” is an action mystery thriller genre that tells the story of 100 years ago of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (Episode 1)” (1999) in the Star Wars series. Writer-director Leslie Headland will participate as the executive producer and writer of “The Acolyte” and consists of a total of eight episodes.

It is currently scheduled to be released on Disney+ around August 11, 2023.

Earlier, “Star Wars” introduced on Twitter, “It is a mystery thriller that will take viewers to the galaxy of emerging dark side forces, a secret hidden at the end of the late Republic era.”
