Singer Lee Hi has decided to conclude her activities with YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment released an official statement on December 31 announcing the news, they revealed that her exclusive contract has expired and that after “sincere and long discussions” have decided not to renew her contract.
Lee Hi joined YG Entertainment after the first season of “K-Pop Star” in 2011, she made her debut in 2012, YG stated that she grew to become the ‘representative next-generation female vocalist.’
They also added,
“We’d like to express our gratitude to Lee Hi for making a name for herself for the past seven years as a YG artist, we will sincerely support her always.”
Lee Hi most recently had a very successful comeback in 2019 after fans demanded a comeback, she didn’t promote as much as fans had hoped she would for the past seven years which is why many of them thought it was a waste of her talent.
Reactions to Lee Hi’s departure are positive from both the k-netizens side and the international side; fans wish she would find a label that can promote her better.
Following the news of her departure from YG Entertainment, she posted to Instagram about it.
Lee Hi talked about her journey as a singer throughout the past seven years, she thanked the staff who had always worked hard with her behind the scenes, she also says that she has come to this decision after a long period of thinking and thanked YG staff who supported her decision. She told her fans she will be even wiser in choosing her agency next time and wishes to greet them with great news soon.
