Kim Woo Bin Confesses To Being Given A Terminal Cancer Diagnosis In 2017, “I6 Months”
Actor Kim Woo Bin confessed that he was given a terminal diagnosis while battling nasopharyngeal cancer.
On the 16th of September, Kim Woo Bin appeared on Shin Dong Yeop’s YouTube channel and opened up about his past cancer diagnosis revealing a shocking fact heard for the 1st time ever.
He said, “I’m originally a positive person. I find strengths in any situation. Like in a drama, the hospital suddenly said, ‘If it’s short, 6 months.’ I was so shocked and scared. It was a situation I wished was a dream, but I never thought, ‘What if I can’t overcome this?’ I thought, ‘This is an opportunity.’ I couldn’t feel that way right away, but as I went through treatment, I thought maybe it was time to reflect and have good moments after being busy for 10 years since my debut.”
Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017 and battled the disease for about three years. He said, “Simply because my face was known, many people supported and prayed for me. I truly believe in that power,” and added, “The progress was so good that even the hospital was surprised. It was to the point where I could visibly see myself improving. I also felt that I recovered quickly, and I always try to keep that feeling within me.”
“I want to pass on the prayers I received to many others. Before I sleep, I pray that miracles happen in more households,” he said, and added, “I also express myself more, especially to my parents. It takes a lot of courage. Even though they’re the closest people, my heart was racing. I give them a decent amount of pocket money,” he said with a laugh.
During the show, Kim Woo Bin drank non-alcoholic beer. When MC Shin Dong-yeop asked, “Won’t you drink alcohol someday?” Kim Woo Bin replied, “I stopped drinking for 5 years after starting treatment. The exact 5th year was when my comeback film ‘Alienoid’ Part 1 came out. I had a beer with Jo In Sung and the other hyungs at the after-party. After that, I went back to not drinking, but the hospital said it’s fine now, so I occasionally drink when I travel.”
For the 1st time ever, the actor admitted to having been given a terminal diagnosis which shocked his fans. Many fans are glad that the actor’s health improved and he’s now back to being healthy and to his job.
