Actors who caused controversy for drunk driving have been suspended from appearing on KBS for a limited time.

On December 21st, KBS revealed to OSEN, “It is true that Kim Sae Ron, Kwak Do Won, and Shin Hye Sung have been temporarily suspended from appearing on KBS broadcasts.”

KBS sets ‘an act that caused social controversy by an illegal or immoral act’ as a target for deliberation on broadcast appearance regulation which includes ‘Avoiding military service’, ‘Habitual drug use and smoking marijuana’, ‘Fraud/theft/gambling’, ‘Assault and sexual harassment’, ‘Other cases of civil/criminal prosecution’, ‘Disruption of public morals and social order’,

If the judging committee determines that the person in question has a problem, it will take measures such as ‘recommendation to refrain from appearing in public appearances’, ‘temporary suspension of appearances’, and ‘restriction on broadcast appearances’ depending on the severity of the issue.

Kim Sae Ron, Kwak Do Won, and Shin Hye Sung have caused controversy over drunk driving. First of all, Kim Sae Ron had an accident in May last year in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where she crashed into a guardrail, a street tree, and a transformer while driving under the influence. As a result of the blood test, the blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.2%, which is significantly higher than the license revocation level (0.08%).

Kwak Do Won was caught falling asleep with his car parked on a road in Bongseong-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju in September. At the time, it was known that his blood-alcohol level was above the license revocation level. Kwak Do Won was on the list of recommendations to refrain from appearing on KBS due to the ‘Me Too’ controversy, and the restriction was lifted last year, but he was put on the list again.

In October, Shin Hye Sung was arrested by the police at Tancheon 2nd Bridge, Songpa-gu, Seoul on charges of refusing to take a breathalyzer test under the Road Traffic Act. At the time, the controversy aggravated when the car Shin Hye Sung drove was reported to have been stolen.

In addition, composer Don Spike, who was arrested and indicted for possession and use of methamphetamine, actor Ha Jung Soo, who was fined for illegally using propofol, and B.I, who was sentenced to prison for drug use and purchase of cannabis, were suspended from broadcasting.
