A survival ranking war among high school girls begins in the upcoming TVING drama “Pyramid Game.”
Based on a webtoon of the same name, the TVING original series “Pyramid Game” tells the story of a high school girl who must escape from being a victim of legal school violence and become a sniper to end the game. Each month, the students are ranked through voting, and those in the F grade become legitimate victims of school violence.
The high school girls who will lead the drama, navigating between the victims, perpetrators, and bystanders of this malicious game, include a lineup of promising rookie actors. Kim Ji Yeon [WJSN Bona] has been cast in the role of Sung Soo-ji, who becomes a victim of school violence and leads a rebellion immediately after transferring to the school.
The drama also features rising rookie actors who have gained attention through commercials, such as Jang Da Ah, Ryu Da In, Shin Seul Gi and Jeong Ha Dam.
“Pyramid Game” sheds light on the fierce struggle of eighteen girls who face school violence as an everyday occurrence. The main character, Sung Soo-ji, who starts as a transfer student who is a victim of bullying, aims to break the rigid pyramid hierarchy that dominates the classroom and bring catharsis. The drama is expected to go beyond the school genre, exploring elements of thriller, social criticism, and crime through the portrayal of a violent society reflected in the school setting.
The production team of “Pyramid Game” stated, “We have continuously questioned why school violence has become a part of daily life and why it continues to evolve. We planned this project to gather attention toward reality,” and expressed their aspirations, saying, “Please look forward to the friendship, sense of justice, and a glimmer of hope that will blossom among the high school girls amidst suffocating violence.”
‘Pyramid Game’ will be released on TVING in 2024.
