Actor Jung Sung Il has talked about how “The Glory” made him overwhelmingly popular, how he feels about receiving this much recognition, and more.

On March 24, we met actor Jung Sung Il who starred in the Netflix series “The Glory” at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul. Jung Sung Il played the role of Ha Do Young, the husband of Park Yeon Jin, who is the life-long revenge target of Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), a victim of school violence.

Jung Sung Il said,

“I didn’t think we would get this much recognition. But I had confidence in ‘The Glory’ itself. Since it’s written by writer Kim Eun Sook, the script book was good. As an actor who participated in good work, I think I gained some recognition. I wonder if this is right because I have been receiving too much attention these days.”

Jung Sung Il, who became widely popular through “The Glory” said,

“It’s incredible. Many people around me recognize me. Even if I wear a hat and mask, people recognize me. My son also said that his kindergarten teacher asked him to get his autograph.
People around me ask me to sign autographs. People who didn’t contact me also contact me and ask me to send them an autograph and record a video. There were a lot of people who demanded me. Thank you, it’s fun, it’s awkward, and it’s embarrassing. I’m still having mixed feelings.”

When asked how his 7-year-old son reacted to him getting popular, Jung Sung Il laughed, saying,

“He doesn’t know anything. He doesn’t t know much about my job as an actor. He just told his mom, ‘The swimming teacher asked me to get dad’s autograph.’ My wife asked him, ‘Do you know what an autograph is?’ and he simply said he didn’t. He just said, ‘I just need to get two autographs.’ That’s also cute.”

Regarding his rising recognition, he commented,

“It’s more incredible than being interesting. I don’t have a wide range of social circles, but the way people look at me has changed. It’s amazing that I got in touch with my middle and high school friends when I was young.”

Meanwhile, “The Glory” is a Netflix series about a woman whose soul shattered due to suffering from violence in her childhood, who was carefully preparing for revenge for her whole life, and of those who fall into the vortex.

Isn’t he charismatic?
