JTBC has released a new statement to address the historical distortion controversy with “Snowdrop.”
JTBC had previously released a statement denying the drama distorts history and said they wouldn’t be canceling broadcast as many viewers have been demanding.
In hopes of easing people’s concerns with the drama, JTBC issued a new statement today announcing they will air episodes 3, 4, and 5 on December 24, 25, and 26, respectively, at 10:30 p.m. KST.
They wrote,
“Controversy continues over JTBC’s “Snowdrop.” Due to the nature of the drama, all narratives cannot be released at once, so it seems that a misunderstanding has arisen from the initial development. In response, JTBC decided to make a special broadcast ahead of schedule to ease viewers’ concerns.
In the 3rd to 5th episodes of “Snowdrop.,” which will air for 3 days from the 24th (Friday) to the 26th (Sun), the background of Suho, the North Korean spy who was dispatched to South Korea and the substance of unfair power will be explained, revealing the probability of the initial setting. In the drama, it turns out that the Agency for National Security Planning is bringing the spies to South Korea, and the leaders of North Korea and South Korea will collude for power and money. There are also stories of young people caught up in their secret operations.
JTBC respects various views and opinions on the content. In order to hear the opinions of viewers, we are listening to various voices on the viewer bulletin board and the portal site’s real-time chat window. This special schedule was a choice to address viewers’ concerns. We will continue to listen to your opinions and do our best to create good content.”
