Actor Jang Geun Suk expressed how he felt about his return to the drama land with new drama “Bait” after five years and more at the press conference of the drama.
On the afternoon of January 25, a press conference of Coupang Play’s new original series “Bait” was held at Megabox COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Hong Sun, Jang Geun Suk, Lee Elijah, and Heo Sung Tae attended the press to talk about the drama.
Jang Geun Suk shared how it felt coming back after 5 years with new work, expressing,
Since this was a work with which I’ll be making a comeback after a while, I thought it would be a new challenge to break away from my usual self by playing the character Goo Do Han, so I tried to grow a beard and express myself as a rough man while restraining my usual side quite a lot.”
Jang Geun Suk expressed his greed to try a totally different character from his usual self, saying,
I had doubts over discordance that appeared when I tried to break away from my usual self by force, so I contemplated about my ability to naturally do a lot of body actions from the production stage.
From the actor’s point of view, I think I had the desire to break loose from my actual personality for once. I became greedy to feel that same emotional release like when I heard people say ‘that guy knows how to act’ when I did a movie called “The Case Of Itaewon Homicide” in the past.
The desire to break free from the actual Jang Geun Suk and transform into a new me than being the same Jang Geun Suk. I think that’s the result and goal I wanted to have after five years of waiting.”
Coupang Play drama “Bait” is a crime thriller that tracks the secrets surrounding a case for which a suspect was pointed out in a murder case eight years after the death of the criminal of the biggest fraud case since the accident. It will captivate viewers at once with its solid story between the mysterious murder case at this point and the fraud case that shook the Republic of Korea in the past, unexpected shocking developments and twists, and thorough acting by the main actors.
“bait” is the first comeback work in five years by global star Jang Geun Suk, who plays the role of Goo Do Han, a violent crime detective who specializes in lawyers. Heo Sung Tae plays the born-to-be swindler No Sang Cheon, and Lee Elija plays a passionate reporter named Cheon Na Yeon. Director Kim Hong Sun who famously worked on “Voice,” “The Guest” and “Money Heist: Korea-Joint Economic Area” is directing this drama.
“Bait” will be released twice a week starting from January 27. Meanwhile, the drama will be introduced in two parts, Part 1, which consists of a total of six episodes, will be introduced first. Part 2 will be released in the first half of 2023.
