Singer and actress IU announced that she will unify her stage name as IU.
Actors Park Seo Joon, IU, Kim Jong Soo, Ko Chang Seok, Jeong Seung Gil, Lee Hyun Woo, Yang Hyun Min, Hong Wan Pyo, Huh Jun Seok, and director Lee Byung Hun attended the press conference for the movie “Dream” at Megabox Seongsu in Seongdong-gu, Seoul on March 30th.
When asked about her stage name, IU said, “As an actress, I put it on the credits as Lee Ji Eun, but everyone calls me IU anyway.”
She continued, “I am constantly active as a singer. For example, if I came out as IU in March and then appeared as Lee Ji Eun in May, it might be confusing,” she said, “So I decided to do only use the name IU.”
Meanwhile, IU and park seo joon recalled the moment they first met at the set of “dream”, which had already been filmed three years ago. park seo joon started filming “dream” after the drama “itaewon class.” “there were many twists and turns before it’s finally meeting the audience,” he said. “it’s new to see me from three years ago. I am excited and worried to meet the audience at the theater after a long time. I have mixed feelings,” he said. iu said, “i have filmed dramas focusing on a role with a lot of stories, and when I thought I wanted to play a role without a story, I was offered ‘dream’,” adding, “i filmed with joy.”
both agreed that they had high expectations for working with each other. park seo joon said, “i am a fan of iu,” adding, “i was looking forward to working together, and I was curious about how it would be in the field.” in the drama, our relationship is very quarrelsome. as the shooting was almost over, I wished there were more scenes. “it was nice to meet you, it was fun,” he said, drawing attention.
iu also shared her impressions of working with park seo joon. she praised, “every time the director made an unexpected request, park seo joon accepted it flexibly and made it his own, and I was so envious.”
“dream” depicts the story of former soccer player hong dae (park seo joon) who has no purpose and producer so min (iu) with no passion, who challenges impossible dreams with homeless national team players.
“dream” will be released on april 26th.
