IU and Park Bo Gum confirmed their appearances as the main characters in “I Was Fooled”.
According to the production company Fan Entertainment on January 27th, IU and Park Bo Gum will appear in Lim Sang Choon’s new work, “I Was Fooled” (Screenwriter Lim Sang Choon, Director Kim Won Seok, Production Pan Entertainment and Wind Pictures). It is currently in the final stages of planning and plans to start pre-production in the first half of this year.
“I Was Fooled” is a work originally known under the working title “Life”, and it is a drama that tells the adventure-filled life of Ae Soon, a ‘desperate rebel’ born in Jeju in the 1950s, and Gwan Sik, a ‘armless cast iron’.
The Fan entertainment side said about this work, “The story of a mother and father’s bright days, who were always laughing in the background of old photos,” and “The story of mother’s first love, father’s heroic story, grandmother’s rebellious days, grandfather’s lover days, etc. It is like a tribute to their season when they were so young and still tender.”
IU takes on the role of Ae Soon, a rebellious girl in the drama. In many ways, she has to be tough, but she is a little girl whose voice trembles like a goat whenever she rebels. Also, Ae Soon is a child who has a little less but is not shady. Even under the shadow of a low wall that does not let out a single ray of sunlight, she is like a flower that raises her head toward the sun without fail. IU will be in charge of Ae Soon’s spring and summer days and will unfold Ae Soon’s youth, which is growing like a round and hard shrub, in an attractive way.
Park Bo Gum plays the role of Gwan Sik, a character who is like a solid iron. Gwan Sik is a diligent and sincere person and is a ‘clever cast iron’ who knows how great a weapon extreme diligence is. But when it comes to love, it’s a water peach. Even if Ae Soon laughs, it breaks down, and even if she cries, it breaks down. Park Bo Gum plans to portray the youth like a pine tree that is always green, considering that making people wither is the most shameful thing.
“I Was Fooled” is written by Lim Sang Chun, who was loved for the dramas “Backy’s back”, “Fight My Way”, and “When the Camellia Blooms” and Director Kim Won Seok, who has been recognized for “Signal” and “My Mister” are raising expectations with this collaboration.
Fan Entertainment said, “It is very reassuring to be together with the best stars IU and Park Bo Gum in “I Was Fooled”.”

I just hope to god we see this drama in 2023, asap, plzzzz.
First things first, the pairing is tooooo cute for me. Same-age actors IU and Park Bo Gum already suit each other in my eyes, but no, seriously, I can’t wait. I bet the script is solid.
I remember enjoying “When the Camellia Blooms” when it aired even though I felt it was a bit too long, I liked the messages it conveyed, in regards to the director, “My Mister” is one of my favorite kdramas of all time.
Such amazing casting, this will break the internet.
Very pleased to hear this news yesterday. Can’t wait for the cute country drawl from both of them. Very excited a difficult time in Korea at that time I’m sure. Hope we get to learn what real life would have been like then.
